The Art of Giving

Have you ever ask yourself any of the following questions? How can I do this? Is this possible?  Will this work?

Well, you are not alone.  This story will prove that it does not matter what you think or ask yourself.  If you want to give just do it and things will be taken care for you.

Here is The Healthy Carpet first giving story:

It’s September 2016, that is  just around The Healthy Carpet 1st Birthday, (yup! we are one year in the business, can’t believe it our self, how we started and where we are now),  I met Liza Maffucci of Renewing You.  She and her partner Gail Donovan started Renewing You and created skin care for women undergoing cancer treatment.  Their products is special because Gale herself undergo the cancer treatment, she knows exactly what products works and how it needs to be package. It already devastating to receive a bad news that you have cancer, I can’t imagine just the difficulty of changing your daily routine. You can learn more about them and their products in RenewingYou.org

Anyway, after my meeting with Lisa, I agree to partner with her.  We will do October Cancer Awareness.  The Healthy Carpet will donate 10% of our gross proceeds to Renewing You to purchase skincare gift bag and then we will donate it to Helene Foundation.  Helene Foundation is providing assistance to local mothers here in North Carolina currently undergoing cancer treatments. You can donate too by going to HeleneFoundation.org

October came, we start our October Cancer Awareness campaign. October 7, I received a call from my husband, Ferdinand.  He needs to stop his work and I need to cancel our scheduled job for that afternoon. Our brush CRB TM-4 broke down. This is the machine we are using to brush the carpet fiber along with the mineral micro sponge to deeply clean carpets.  I need to cancel all other appointments for the rest of the week.  I order parts from Strong Industries Incorporated, they are the distributor of the CRB machine we are currently using. And man oh man… I will not do business with them again, first, the delivery date failed.  They promised October 14, Friday, it did not arrived. Second, out of the five gear that I ordered one is WRONG!  I cannot talk to the technical support, it is only handled via email and the sales man did not even call me to inform me on the delivery is delay even though he knows our business situation.

With all this happening, we are still fortunate that we bought our business package with Strong Carpet Cleaning System. It is Oct. 17, finally the gear we ordered arrived. There is no manual that comes with the gear, can’t find manual online and so Ferdinand could not figure out how to replace the gear.  It is 6pm EST, I called Kelly Love co-owner of Strong Carpet Cleaning System, he is in California. I told him that gear finally arrived but we can’t figure out how to replace the broken gear.  Kelly as always is very helpful, he understand we are in a crunch, he offer to call his technician and called us back.

It is Oct. 17, 6pm EST  and Kelly is in California.  Kelly and George, the technician called back. George rocks!, he facetime with us and walk us step by step to disassemble and replace the broken gear. He gave us advise on to replace or not to replace the whole set of gear on just one and voila! CRB machine is back on business!

I was able to reschedule all the cancelled appointments.  Thanks to our customers who are patient and understanding. Our  October Cancer Awareness campaign is still The Healthy Carpet  highest earning month! Even though we only work 12 out of 25 working days. I’d say that is AMAZING!!!  November 2016, I meet Lisa and Susan Bowers of Helene Foundation with my kiddos to give the skin care gift bags donations!  you know how it is moms, kiddos always in our tail  See our lovely picture below courtesy of Juan Carlos from http://themodernportraitstudio.com.  If you are looking for a family portrait, look no further.  Juan Carlos is the best!

So the Art of Giving, what is it about?  What is the secret?  On our experience, the Art of Giving is just that, GIVE. If you feel it in your heart that you want to give, just do it. Things will not be perfect, something or someone will come along and hold you back. But, there is always SOMEONE bigger that you and me, who will make the things work out just fine.

Lastly, here is a message from one of my favorite writer Matthew Kelly, I want to share with you.  “Anyone or anything that does not help you become the-best-version-of-yourself is too small for you.” Lisa, Susan and me, Irene of The Healthy Carpet, helping each other to be the best version of our self.  Learn more about my business, my passion about healthy and quality indoor air at TheHealthyCarpet.com.
